(Or What Authors Won't Admit to, Ever)

We procrastinate. It's a fact of life. Either through writer's blocks (which is a legit thing - and I'll post something on that later), disinterest in the subject matter we're writing even though we've excitedly researched through it and understand it, have outlines, know exactly what we want to write about, etc.

Or just plain old procrastination. Basically the distraction can come from many forms: home life, work life (writing is a secondary business for most authors - we don't get paid the millions of dollars unless we're Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, etc.) The authors that even teach classes use it to supplement their income as writers. You do need your own start up money to pretty much get published (self-publishing or even find an agent/publisher). Again, more on that subject later.

I've been procrastinating since the holidays - where I did crank out a good amount of pages and got through at least 2/3 of Book 4, but there's just that 1/3 left that I need to write. And for the love of all that's holy, it's a Herculean effort at the moment. It's definitely not disinterest, but it's more like: but I don't want to finish the end of my novel series! I don't want to magic to end! vibes. Something like that.

We'll see where it goes - for now I'm distracting myself again by writing fanfiction. So hooray to a section of my fans who read my fics - y'all getting some free writing.
