My first pitch was a disaster. My 2nd one, much better.

I decided that I wasn't ready to pitch to either one of the agents at the conference. So went into the 1st one to ask questions and get a feel for the business and trends. Was good all the way up until the agent spontaneously said in the last 2 minutes: "so pitch to me then!"

And...I babbled. >.< FML.

Took 20-30 minutes to recover after that to prep for my 2nd pitch (it was nearly back to back) - I decided definitely not going to pitch no matter if the question is asked. Went in with more questions, got some damn good trend info out of it and thanked the agent/editor for her time. It was a MUCH more pleasant experience. :D (Also got her card, but I promised I would only ask her industry questions and not pitch/query - buuuuut that doesn't mean I can eventually build a relationship to that point. Yay!)
